Members of the Holtsville Fire Department, led by the 1st assistant chief, gathered in remembrance of the victims of the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks. A ceremony was held at the memorial site located at the Holtsville Fire Department where the department memorialized not only all of the victims that passed away on that tragic day, but also all of the emergency workers and civilians that continue to pass away from diseases caused by their tireless work they dedicated themselves to, at ground zero after the attacks. President Bush at the time was quoted saying
“One of the worst days in America’s history saw some of the bravest acts in Americans’ history. We’ll always honor the heroes of 9/11. And here at this hallowed place, we pledge that we will never forget their sacrifice.”
This resonates personally for many of the members of the community, members of the fire department, and their family members, who served in an emergency capacity or non emergency capacity during these tragic events.
Let us all take a moment out of our busy lives to remember all of the victims of that horrific day. We, as a community must never forget the lives lost, and we owe it to all of these heroes to take time out of each Day, to recognize their heroism.
To all of our heroes from FDNY, EMS, NYPD, PAPD, military members, and any other emergency services, who have lost their lives, we have not, and will never forget your sacrifices. To all current members of these services, Stay vigilant, Be Safe, and Thank You
Lest We Forget.
