The Holtsville Fire Department Technical Rescue Team began in October 2006 after several members participated in operations and advanced level rope rescue course taught by Long Island Rescue, Inc. In January 2007, they became part of the Brookhaven Technical Rescue Task Force with their disciplines being high angle and confined space rescue. Since then the Holtsville Fire Department Technical Rescue Team has evolved into a well-equipped, developed team whose disciplines now include high angle rescue, confined space rescue, machinery entrapment rescue, and wilderness search and rescue. The team also has members capable of technical searches in collapses with their listening search device and search camera. The team is well organized, disciplined and very dedicated to the job they perform, thus their motto “who ya gonna call…”
